Polybutadiene Rubber (PBR)
Polybutadiene Rubber (PBR)
Polybutadiene is built up by chemically linking multiple molecules of butadiene to form giant molecules, or polymers. Cured polybutadiene rubber imparts excellent abrasion resistance and low rolling resistance. Polybutadiene rubber is the second largest volume synthetic rubber produced, next to styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR).
Types
- PBR (Cobalt Catalyst )
- PBR ( Neodymium Catalyst)
Uses of polybutadiene rubber (PBR)
Butyl rubber is an important material in the manufacturing of tubeless tires, inner tubes, sports-ball bladders, glove-box gloves, etc. As a waterproofing material, it is applied as a liner in tanks and ponds. It is used as a patching material for membrane roofs and as a sealant for insulated windows. It is used for shock mounts, suspension bushings, and car- and truck-body mounts.Stoppers for labware and medical equipment are manufactured from the material. Owing to its low permeability, it is used in making gas masks.
